Lay the onions in a deep tray, packed close together.
Mix all the liquid ingredients together and pour over the onions.
Mix remaining ingredients together and scatter over the onions.
Cover the onions with foil with a hole in the centre, and bring to the boil on the stove.
Place into a pre-heated 180oC oven on the lowest shelf for 40 minutes.
Remove from the oven, turning the heat down to 170oC.
Uncover the tray, scatter over the butter and 4T of brown sugar.
Place back into the oven uncovered for a further 45 minutes until cooked and the juices have reduced. |
